Google is too "Left" for me.

So I have reset all my homepages on my compter to Google over the last several months. I am not a huge Google fan, but being in IT you have to appreciate the fact that the company is very proactive when it comes to new technologies and with out question is the premier way of seaching the internet. Marry that with an outstanding email system and the purchase of YouTube.com and you have to give them credit. The people whom run that business understand the Internet. This is why I find it hard to believe that they could over look changing the fimilar GOOGLE logo to something alittle patriotic in memory of this Memorial day. I am not asking for much... JUST a little red white and blue and a wreath or the logos of the Armed Forces. But NO. On the Google page on Memorial Day this was the logo.

You'll have the Luck of the Irish, Green Peace Day, Start of Spring, Happy Holidays, and National Butterfly Day. (All very politically correct too~ Way to take a stand.) But nothing for the in respect to the soligers who gave them the ability to prosper.

SO Google, on behalf of those who are true patriots, you can officially kiss my ass. UP YOURS, YOU SUCK. I am switching all 5 of my PC's back to Windows Live. Screw You.

Foundation Problems...

Looks like I am going to have to shell out another 6500.00 for unforeseen foundation problems. Seems the soil is not "firm" enough where the foundation footers were supposed to stop. I have been told that they need to get to virgin soil. So we are now digging even further and the garage foundation will be at the same level as the basement. Needless to say the hole is now huge and covers almost the entire mound that the house is going to be built on. The big question is what to do with all the dirt!

More to come...

Construction Begins

I am planning on posting a few pics during the process of the new home construction. So far there isn't that much to show you. There is a silt fence that lines the property where the home is going to be built, and the construction driveway is in. Additionally I have a bunch of large boulders that surround the property and I have moved a number of them for the construction trucks and equipment to have access.

The process has been very slow. I ended up having to move the house after a verbal ok was given by the city to proceed where I originally had planned to put it. It seems one of my new/future neighbors complained to the city that "my home was going to over shadow there’s" and therefore had to be moved.

It is true; my first floor will look into the second story of there home. I am building on a bit of a hill, and there home sits the lowest in the Ryan home development that they are in. However that gives them no right to have my home moved. I had conformed to all the zoning rules and regs, and had been given the ok. What they did was call everyone in the building department and cried to anyone who would listen. Finally some one in engineering said that my home would cause too much water to fall into there back yard and my home that I have been planning would have to be moved. This ultimately would cost me over $1600.00 in fees and new topology maps. Needless to say I am not very thrilled with the neighbor right now.

Because of the move of my home, I am going to be less than 45 feet off the corner of my home to the street. This is ultimately what I was trying to avoid.

So far K. Hovnanian homes has been ok to work with. Our construction manager is out of the Youngstown office alone with our job foreman. They have been great to deal with.

Our sales person who originally sold us the home out of the Medina office on using them has left the company and we were not treated very well by the company mortgage group after the women who we were dealing with was let go for some reason. The problem is that there seemed to be no record of our 6.5 percent mortgage agreement that we signed. After the mortgage lady was let go they said the best they would be able to do was 6.75 percent. I told them we had signed for the lower rate and they said that they could find no record of it. Needless to say I was not very happy with KHOV Mortgage but was already to far down the road to argue my case. Naturally due to us moving our paperwork had gotten lost that would have proven we had the lower rate.

I am building a new K. Hovnanian home...

My wife and I receintly signed paperwork to build a new home with the K. Hovnanian® family of homebuilders. We are very excited about the experence, and are already fighting through some issues. The construction loan process is not a pleasent one, that is not to say at this point that were getting screwed over, just that is takes an incredable amount of time.

The home selection was fun and picking out the colors was also a interesting experence that was mostly fun for the Mrs.

As I go through the process of building my home I am going to blog about the experence.

Adda Boy Ben Stein

I am currently taking a philosophy class right now at Cleveland State University and I getting very frustrated with the "indoctrination" that is being shoved down the throats of students in the class(s). I am SO sick of the liberal point of view of how we should educate our children. So, as I sit through my final masters classes of how we should all be good feminists, bash the president for trying to institute some standards and accountability, and how having a core knowledge base for our children is a bad thing, I start to look for any glimmer of hope for our young people in our country. I don't think there is any quite honestly. For well over a year I have been looking for a reason why everything is going to hell in a handbag. IE: Some words that would help me rationalize what I see happening before me in the USA. Today my dear friend John Birath sent me a quote from Ben Stein and it hit a home run. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT.

If they know of him at all, many folks think Ben Stein is just a quirky actor/comedian who talks in a monotone. He's also a very intelligent attorney who knows how to put ideas and words together in such a way as to sway juries and make people think clearly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary, Sunday, 12/18/05.
Herewith at this happy time of year, a few confessions from my beating heart: I have no freaking clue who Nick and Jessica are. I see them on the cover of People and Us constantly when I am buying my dog biscuits and kitty litter. I often ask the checkers at the grocery stores. They never know who Nick and Jessica are either. Who are they? Will it change my life if I know who they are and why they have broken up? Why are they so important?
I don't know who Lindsay Lohan is either, and I do not care at all about Tom Cruise's wi fe.
Am I going to be called before a Senate committee and asked if I am a subversive? Maybe, but I just have no clue who Nick and Jessica are.
If this is what it means to be no longer young. It's not so bad.
Next confession:
I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want to preach, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution, and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.
Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him?
I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.
But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to.
In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this Happen?" (regarding Katrina)
Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.
And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell.
Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.
Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord! , people think twice about sharing.
Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.
Added Goodyear to my list of places I will never do business with again.
Today I add GOODYEAR to my list of companies I will never do business again. Most of the compaines have either broken a verbal agreement to fix or do something, have caused me great stresss, or have been down-right dishonest freak'en liars.
Delta Airlines still tops my list of companies that have screwed me. I am a semi frequent travelor, and I have had absolutely rotten luck with Delta. They have screwed me out of airline miles, broken my laptop and refused to pay for it, and lost my luggage. ONE of the times they lost my luggage, I was in the middle of Russia and had to wear my mother in laws clothes for 8 days. ( I bought underware and pants on day 3) I ended up then having to PAY some one to bring it to me, for which I was never reimbursed. On my trip back, I asked to be upgraded to First Class and all would be forgiven. They refused, and as it happends one of the lavs was broken and we had to use the first class cabins lav. There was NO ONE sitting up there. So rather than be decient, they were pricks. SCREW YOU DELTA - YOU'LL NEVER GET ANOTHER DOLLAR. I HOPE YOU GO BANKRUPT YOU BASTARDS. From now on I will fly Aeroflot when I fly to Russia, and get better service.
I'll tell you what Goodyear did next time I log on...
